Welcome

...to my Treehouse, where I do a bit of sharing goodies with my readers, and a lot of showing off of my CT tags. It's my little nest in the busy world of psp.

Squirrely has been my nickname since I was a child, both because it rhymes with my real name, and because I'm forgetful and just plain nuts at times. I've been tagging for 2+ decades off and on, and now that I'm retired/disabled I'm pretty much on most of the time now.

I love to share what I make with you, and I LOVE it when you respond with love back for the shares. So have a look around, take what you like and enjoy yourself. Just watch for splinters.

June Adventure

Tube with closeup- I've used a beautiful, multi-layered new tube by Spazz called "June", which can be purchased at her store HERE. Please don't use without a license.
Scrapkit - "Sea Adventure", a fun and versatile new collab kit between Spazz and Kizzed by Kelz, also available at the Spazz store.
Mask - my own 'SquirrelyMask09' which can be found on the Creative Addictions Attitude blog
Filter (optional) - EyeCandy Perspective Shadow (I use 3.1)
Font - I've used my favorite font, Pablo

-------------------------------------------
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste as a new layer
d/s = drop shadow
f/f = flood fill
-----------------------------------------
**Add a d/s of 2, 2, 35, 6.00 throughout except where noted**

1. Open a new image 650x650 and f/f with white.  Open your tube, duplicate and close the original. If you're using the same tube, r/s it 50%, then duplicate again and r/s this one to be 580 in height.

2. Open E40 and r/s 85%, c/p moving them slightly down.

3. Open E123 and r/s 85%.  C/p moving slightly to the left. Do not add a d/s to this layer

4. C/p 119 and move this slightly to the right and drop below the rocks in your layers palette. Do not add a d/s to this layer either.

5. Open E26 and r/s 85%, c/p above rock layer.  Grab your tube closeup and c/p so the face fits in the shell back, change the blend mode to overlay. Highlight your shell layer and s/sa/fl/defl and invert, highlight the closeup layer again and tap delete.  Select none.

6. C/p your tube as a new layer now, positioning her so she sits on the bottom portion of the shell.

7. Open E18 and c/p as a new layer dropping it under the rocks in your layers palette. Move it to the right side of your tag. Do not add a d/s.  Now open E36 and c/p dropping it under the wave layer in your palette.  I duplicated it & moved one layer a bit lower to make it a bit thicker. No d/s here either.

8. Open E4 and r/s 50%, c/p above the shell layer and move to the far left. Open
E5 and r/s 50% twice, c/p as a new layer moving in front of the coral.  Now open both
KPK102 & KPK103 and r/s both 35% and c/p as new layers, the orange one should be on top because of it's d/s.

9. Open E57 and r/s 50% twice, c/p as a new layer moving it to the right side & down. Since this little guy is standing up all proud, I gave him a perspective shadow.

10 Open E114 and rotate right.  C/p moving it under your tube. Open E125 and r/s 75%, c/p on top of your tube layer.

11. Finally we'll add the mask.  Highlight the white background layer, add a new layer and select all.  Open KBK pp6 and paste into selection. Apply the SquirrelyMask09 and merge group.

12. Resize now if desired.  Close off the white background & mask layers and merge visible.  Duplicate the merged tag and add a Gaussian blur of 5.00 to the duplicated layer.  Change the blend mode to soft light. Unhide the mask layer and merge visible.  Delete the white layer.

13. Add your artist's copyright and your name.  I hope you enjoyed this tut. :)

s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = dropshadow
f/f = flood fill
-----------------------------------------

1. Open template, duplicate and close original; r/s to 650x650.  Delete the photo & title page (titre) layers, as well ass Calque 19 - 14, 2 & 1. Add a new layer at the bottom and f/f with white. 2. Open Spazz elem(21) & r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer, duplicate - mirror.  Erase one of the ends of either fencepost layer to make the fence look cool. Rearrange and merge these together. Add d/s 6, 6, 22, 12.00

3. For each of these layers, use the s/sa/fl/defl technique and the suggested papers. My tube covered a few hexagons, so I moved those ones around.  Add a white border of 2 to each paper hexagon, then a d/s of 2, 2, 50, 5.00.
--Layer Calque 13 with KBK P(10).
--Layer Calque 11 & 4 with KBK P(15).
--Layer Calque 8 with p07.
--Layer Calque 6 with p01.
--Layer Calque 3 with Spazz P(7).
--Layer Calque 9 with Spazz P(8).

4. Use my tag as an example if you want to replicate my tag, or go your own way. :) To each layer unless otherwise noted, add a d/s of 3, 3, 50, 27.00

--Grab ele16----grass-----& c/p as a new layer above the fence layer. Duplicate, mirror and drop below the fence layer.
--Grab Spazz elem(52)----blue puff-----& c/p as a new layer above the fence layer.
--Grab Spazz ele33----tall flowers-----r/s 60% & c/p as a new layer above the fence layer, moving it to the far right, duplicate, mirror.
--Grab ele27 ----chair----& c/p as a new layer above the grass layer. Add d/s 6, 6, 25, 12.00
--Grab ele25 ---kite---- & r/s 60%, mirror.  C/p as a new layer adding the same d/s but on a new layer.
--Grab ele02 ---glitter---- & r/s 60%, mirror.  C/p as a new layer moving it towards the top.
--Grab ele26 ---laying daisy---- & r/s 50%, mirror.  C/p as a new layer moving it down and to the left.
--Grab ele30 ---glitter daisy---- & r/s 90%, c/p as a new layer moving it down so you see it under your tube layer.
--Grab Spazz ele(9) ---bird---- & r/s 20%, c/p as a new layer moving it up to sit in one of the hexagons. Add d/s of 4, 4, 25, 8.00

5. Finally, highlight your mask layer.  S,s/a,fl/defl. Take the close up of your tube and c/p as a new layer positioning it in a way that you can see it peeking through; invert and tap delete twice.  Select none, change blend mode to hard light and lower the opacity to 70.

6. I added the pretty quote using color #3f282e.  Resize now if desired, then add your name and artist's copyright information.  Delete white layer and save as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tut!!

The Moments We Love - PTU summer tut

I've got a quick and easy tut for you tonight, using an Oh-SO pretty new collab scrapkit that you can get free with a $10.00 purchase over at Spazz' store.  The kit is called Memories of You and it has a wonderfully summer feeling to it, with both flowers and beach-y elements abounding.

I have another tutorial written with this kit, "Graceful Marika".

The Moments We Love

Close Up Tube - I've used a beauty from Jennifer Janesko, which can be purchased at CDO .  Please don't use without a license
Scrap Kit - Memories of You, a gorgeous store collab kit between Spazz, Scrappin Krazy Designs and Kizzed by Kelz.  This kit is FREE with a $10 purchase from the store right now.
Mask - I've used one from Wee Scottish Lass - Mask_WSL99
Filter - any filter with a perspective shadow, I've used Eye Candy 3
Font - I've used Sweetly Broken.
-------------------------------------------
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = dropshadow
f/f = flood fill
-----------------------------------------
1. Open a new image 650x600 and f/f with white, you can r/s later if you want. Add a new layer and select all.  Open P07 and paste it into the selection, select none.  Layers, find the Mask_WSL99 & apply, merge group. Open E01, c/p as a new layer and move it to the left.

2.  Open KBK-P6, duplicate (close original) and r/s 30%. Open your face tube, resize to 240 at it's widest, c/p as a new layer onto the beach scene paper (P6). Lower the opacity of the tube to 50 so you can see the scene easily behind it. Move the tube so  Using your freeform selections tool with feather set to 3, "cut out" the bottom portion of her face along the sand line.

Tap delete and then select none, bring the opacity to 68 and change the blend mode to hardlight, duplicate and change to blend mode to screen opacity 50. Open MOYE60 and r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer and position it so the left upper handrail of the element is on the bottom left corner of this image (refer to my example).  Once set, use your crop tool and snap crop it on merged opague.  Merge all.  C/p this image onto your tag, moving it towards the right.

3. Open KBK-E17 & KBK-E24 and r/s both 75%; c/p E17 and move it over till it frames your tube/beach scene image, add a d/s of 5, 5, 35, 5.00. Move E24 to the left of the frame, lining up the bottoms of each element.

4. Now it's all just copy & paste, refer to my example as needed -

Open KBK-E29, r/s 75% and free rotate right 7.00, repeat d/s and postition over face.
Open KBK-E12, r/s 50%, c/p as a new layer, move to the right, on top of the pink frame.     Add a d/s of 5, 5, 28, 10.00
Open MOY-E53 and r/s 40% and c/p as a new layer moving it to the left side of the  wooden frame. Add a d/s of 5, 5, 35, 5.00.
Open ele16, c/p as a new layer moving to the bottom.
Open ele33 and r/s 75%, c/p as a new layer moving it to the bottom and over to the right.
Open ele22 and r/s 40%, c/p as a new layer moving it below the starfish. Add a d/s of 5, 5, 28, 10.00.
Open MOY-E56, r/s 75%, c/p as a new layer moving to the right bottom.
Open MOY-E36, c/p as a new layer and duplicate. Position these two so that they're "climbing" up the left side of the wooden frame.  Add a d/s of 5, 5, 28, 10.00 to each.
Open KBK-E6 & KBK-E7, r/s 40%, c/p as a new layers and move to the far left, repeat d/s. Put the flip flops layer under the coral layer in your layer palette.
Open E51, r/s 50%, c/p as a new layer, move to be under the flip flops on the image, add a perspective shadow as so:

5. Grab your text tool with your chosen font, and type "The", convert to raster and place above 'moments'; then type "we", covert and place between 'moments & love'.

6. Resize now if you'd like, then add your artist's copyright info and your name, delete the white background layer, save as a png file and enjoy your new tag!

FTU scrapkit - Vegas Dawn

This is a copy and paste post, short and sweet.  I'm down flat with my back, on pain killers and steroids and not loving life at the moment.  But I wanted to let you know that I have a new FREE for you scrap kit posted over on the Creative Addictions Attitude Blog.  Our theme this month was Vegas, so I created a very pretty, Vegas-themed kit using the colors of a "Vegas Dawn". I think it will be fun to play with.
You can snag this FTU kit along with several other's goodies by clicking on either of the previews below.
Have fun with it, I'd love to see what you create with it!!
I've got a tut coming up for you as soon as I can get to my desktop where everything is.  Right now I'm hunting and pecking on my grandkids laptop lol.
