Welcome

...to my Treehouse, where I do a bit of sharing goodies with my readers, and a lot of showing off of my CT tags. It's my little nest in the busy world of psp.

Squirrely has been my nickname since I was a child, both because it rhymes with my real name, and because I'm forgetful and just plain nuts at times. I've been tagging for 2+ decades off and on, and now that I'm retired/disabled I'm pretty much on most of the time now.

I love to share what I make with you, and I LOVE it when you respond with love back for the shares. So have a look around, take what you like and enjoy yourself. Just watch for splinters.

Sexy Santa Baby - a PTU tut

Tube - I've used a tube by Spazz of the eternally beautiful "Marilyn" which can be bought in the Spazz store HERE, please don't use without a license.
Scrap Kit - A holiday kit perfect to turn this tube into a holiday one, "Sexy Santa" by Kizzed by Kelz, which also can be found in Spazz store HERE
Mask - my own SquirrelyMask09 which can be found HERE
Filter - (optional) 3D shadow in Eye Candy 3.1 - I've used it in this tut for all the drop shadows.
Font - I've used Good Vibrations Rob, a pay font
Supplies - my lyrics wordart HERE

-------------------------------------------------
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = drop shadow
f/f = flood fill
-------------------------------------------------
Throughout the tut I used EyeCandy dropshadow of distance 5, blur 10, opacity 30 with color #000000, except where noted.

1. Open a new image 700 x 700 and f/f with white, we'll crop and r/s later.  Add a new layer and select all.  Open paper 14 and c/p it into selection, select none.  Under Layers - masks -  find SquirrelyMask09 and apply, merge group.

2. Open ele12 and c/p as a new layer.  Using your magic wand, tap inside of the frame, modify your selection by expanding by 4 and then add a new layer.  Open paper8 and c/p into selection, select none.  Move this layer below the frame and add your d/s to the frame.  Open ele8, r/s 75% and c/p just above the paper8 layer.

3. Open your tube now and r/s accordingly (if using Marilyn, I r/s'ed 50% twice).  C/p the tube as a new layer and position her so she's sitting on the bottom of the frame on the left side, you may have to move the frame a bit to achieve this. Duplicate your tube and add a Gaussian Blur of 5 to this layer, then change the blend mode to soft light. Open ele2 and r/s 50% and sharpen twice. C/p as a new layer above the frame layer in your palette, and "hang" them from the top of the frame. Add a d/s of 10, 10, 33 to the balls, and 5, 10, 33 to your tube.

4. Open elements 4 & 31 and r/s each 65%, c/p the sleigh as a new layer moving it to the bottom right of the frame layer and add a d/s of 8, 10, 33. Position the cat in front of the sleigh on the right side of it, add the regular d/s.  Open elements 85 & 101 and r/s each 20%.  C/p each of them into the sleigh.  Grab your freeform selection tool and trace around the hanging good ribbon like so:

Promote this to a new layer and hide it.  Lower the opacity of the two gifts so you can see through them, and trace around the front rim of the sleigh:

Once done, delete the bottoms of the gifts so they appear to be in the sled, select none.  Add your d/s's and unhide the promoted piece of bow.

5. Open ele51 and r/s 35%.  C/p as a new layer to the far right of the frame, below the sleigh layer.  Open ele30, r/s 25%, c/p as a new layer and "sit" it inside of the vase.  Open ele10 and r/s 35%, c/p as a new layer and move under the vase layer, again, so they appear to be coming out of the vase.  Add d/s to both these layers.

6. Now we'll add some extra elements:
:::Open ele 53, r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer to the left side of the frame above your tube layer in your layer palette.  Add a d/s of 10, 10, 33.
:::Open ele20, r/s 25% & free rotate 90 degrees right, mirror.  "Hang" this ele from the top left side of the frame covering the staple from the hanging Christmas balls, add d/s
:::Open ele8 and r/s 25%, c/p as a new layer to the midde of the frame.  Add d/s of 10, 10, 33.
:::Highlight the frame layer and open ele39, c/p as a new layer.
:::Open ele 66 and r/s 75%, c/p as a new layer moving to the far right of the frame.
:::Highlight your tube layer and open ele40, r/s 25%. C/p as a new layer and move to the far right so it peeks out from behind the cat.
:::Open ele115 and r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer and move it above the frame layer and add your d/s.

7. Crop and r/s as desired.  Add your artist's copyright and your name, and merge visible.  Save as a png. file and that's it!  Enjoy your new Holiday tag!!

Warm & Merry Nights - PTU

Tube - I've used "Merry" by ViNina which can be found at S&Co HERE. Please don't use ViNina's lovely artwork without a license.
Scrap Kit - a really sweet kit by Kizzed by Kelz, "Pink Christmas", which also can be found at S&Co HERE
Mask - 179Insatiable Dreams & 191Insatiable Dreams, both can be d/l'ed HERE, scroll down for Masks 6
Filters - (Optional) EyeCandy 3.1 - this tutorial is written using this filter.
Font - I've used Janet

-------------------------------------------------
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = drop shadow
f/f = flood fill
-------------------------------------------------
Throughout this tut I've used an EyeCandy dropshadow of distance 4, blur 6 , opacity 32 - with color #202020, except where noted.

1. Open a new image 700 x 700, we can crop and r/s later.  F/f with white, add a new layer and select all.  Open paper 48 and c/p into selection, add a new layer.  Open paper 46 and paste into selection, mirror and then hide this layer.  Select none.  On the paper 48 layer apply the 179Insatiable Dreams mask and merge group. Unhide and highlight the paper 46 layer and apply the 191InsatiableDreams mask and merge group.

2. Open ele 51 and c/p as a new layer, moving to the bottom left side, add d/s.  Open your main tube and r/s to about 575 high.  C/p as a new layer moving it to the left to "sit" on the pillows.  Duplicate and add a Gaussian Blur of 5 to this layer.  Change the blend mode to soft light. On the original tube layer add your d/s.

3. Now we'll add the elements as follows to create the tag above...

::::Open ele 2, c/p as a new layer above the top mask layer, do not add a d/s.
::::Open ele 23, r/s 75% and c/p as a new layer, moving it to the upper left & dropping it below your tube. Add d/s.
::::Open ele 14 and c/p as a new layer moving it on top of the greenery.  Add a d/s of 4, 8, 40.
::::Open ele 128 and r/s 75%. C/p as a new layer below the greenery layer and tuck it behind it.  Change the d/s to 5, 5, 32
::::Open ele 17, r/s 30% and then 75% again. C/p as a new layer moving to the bottom right, add d/s.
::::Open ele 124 and r/s 25%. C/p as a new layer moving to the left of the coffee cup, add d/s.  Repeat with ele 123.
::::Open ele 91 and r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer and drop below the coffee cup in your layer palette and move behind it on your tag. Add d/s.
::::Open ele 8, r/s 50% and c/p as a new layer moving it down and in front of the coffee cup, add d/s.
::::Open ele 33 and c/p as a new layer above the mask layer in your layers palette, r/s 85%.  Be sure the coffee cup and cookies hide the bottom of the frame. Tap inside the frame with your magic wand, modify and expand it by 5. Open your close-up tube and mirror, c/p it as a new layer under the frame in your layers palette, positioning it so you see the face nicely in the frame.  Invert and delete the close-up layer.  Change the blend mode to soft light and add a d/s to the frame layer.
::::Open ele 23 and r/s 85%. C/p as a new layer and drape it across the top of the frame. Add a d/s changing the blur to 10.
::::Open ele 56 and c/p as a new layer, dropping it under the frame layer.  Move it up so it's under the top of the frame.  No d/s on this layer.
::::Open ele 58 and c/p as a new layer just under the frame layer. Move it around so it peeks out from behind your tube, duplicate and move this one to the far left above the pillows.
::::Open ele 134 and c/p as a new layer above the frame layer. Move it to the top right corner of the frame, add d/s.

4. Crop and r/s as desired, add your name and your artist's copyright information and delete the white background layer.  Save as a png file and enjoy your new holiday tag!!

FTU tut - Harley Quinn

This time of year I think we all like a little break now and then from the holiday or seasonal tags once in awhile, am I right?  When we had the chance to create a scrap kit with whatever theme we like in my forum, Creative Intentions, I jumped at the chance to make a Harlequin one.  I love this tube of Danny Lee's which was my inspiration for the kit.

Just click the tag to be taken directly to the tut in Creative Addictions, which you don't have to join to see all of our tuts.  I hope you enjoy both the kit and the tut, and leave me a bit of love if you do.

Snow Bound - animated PTU

Tube - I've used this awesome tube, "Sleigh" by Danny Lee, I think it's so fun !!!!  You can purchase it HERE at S&Co
Scrap Kit - Bibi's matching kit "Snow", can also be purchased at S&Co HERE. Through tomorrow it's only $.75!!
Mask - 540Insatiable Dreams which can be found HERE, under Masks 13
Template - Kristin-TD-Template-211 which you can find on her blog HERE.  They're about a third of the way down in the middle column.
Filters - Xero Porcelain & Eye Candy 3.1 drop shadow (optional but it's what I use for my tuts)
Font - I've used Studio Lettering Swing - a pay font
Supplies - My zip HERE, which contains the snow.

-------------------------------------------------
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = drop shadow
f/f = flood fill
-------------------------------------------------
Throughout this tut I used EyeCandy dropshadow of - direction 315; distance 4; blur 6; opacity 40; color #00000 -  except where noted.

1. Open Kristin's template, duplicate and close original.  Do not r/s it yet, we can do that later, you'll want to work big for now.  Delete the credit layer, layers 10 & 11 and their copies.  Change the canvas size of the template to this...

Move all the way down in your layer palette to raster 1 and f/f this layer with white.

2. Open your tube and r/s as needed. If using this same adorable tube, resize it to 550 wide. C/p it as a new layer at the top of your layer palette, so we have it there for color and measurement.  Highlight raster 2, s/sa/fl/defl.  Open paper4 and r/s to 430 x 430, c/p as a new layer, invert and tap delete. Select none and delete black circle.  Move your tube now so the bottom of the sleigh is almost to the bottom of the circle. Do not add a d/s yet.

3. Highlight Copy of Raster 2 layer.  Open elem 75 and r/s by 85%, c/p as a new layer moving it so it centers around the circle.

4. Highlight raster 6 copy layer and merge down with raster 6 layer, s/sa/fl/defl.  Open paper 9 and r/s it to 740 squared, c/p as a new layer, invert and tap delete.  Select none.  Repeat these same steps with layers 3 copy & 3 and paper 10, and again with layers 7 copy & 7 and paper 7.

5. Highlight the copy of raster 8 layer, s/sa/fl/def.  Open paper 8 and r/s to 600 squared, mirror. C/p it so that the pine branches at the bottom of the paper show inside the selected area, invert and tap delete & select none.  Duplicate this layer and mirror, move it up so it covers raster 8 in the same manner.

6. Highlight raster 6, s/sa/fl/defl.  Open your closeup tube and r/s as desired, c/p as a new layer over circle, invert and delete.  Repeat this step with the copy of raster 6 using a different part of your tube. Change the blend modes of both to luminance, and add effects weave with the following settings:

Apply Xero Porcelain on default settings to both tube layers.  Merge the two tube layers together, then merge raster 6 and it's copy together.  Highlight the tube layer and merge down.  S/sa/fl/defl then to Modify, select selections borders and choose both sides and a border of 4, anti-alias checked.  Add a new raster layer and f/f with white, select none.  Duplicate this frame layer. On the original frame layer add a Gaussian Blur of 4. Do not add a d/s to either of these layers.

7. Highlight copy of raster 9 and merge down with raster 9. S/sa/fl/defl and add a new layer.  F/f this layer with a color from your tube (I used a color from the dogs, #695641).

8. Now we're going to place the elements.  Refer to my tag for placement if you like, or go your own way.
::::Open elem18, r/s 50%, c/p it to the top of your layer palette and move it down & to the right to cover the strip you just filled, then move it down in your layers palette to above the strip.  Duplicate, mirror and flip.  Add a d/s of direction 315, distance 8, blur 15, opacity 30 with color #000000.
::::Open elem32, r/s 50%.  C/p as a new layer below the brown strip on the right side.  Use your eraser tool to remove any part of the trunk that covers your tubes face on the bottom right circle.
::::Open elem105, r/s 60%. C/p as a new layer below the circles and move it down so the bottom of the dark part is just under the front paws of the dogs.  Grab your freeform selections tool set as point to point, with a feather of 10, and trace around the bottom just a wee bit below the dark part. I used a background of black just to make this screenshot easy to see...

Once done tracing, tap delete just once and select none.  Do not add a d/s to this layer.
::::Open elem109, r/s 75%. C/p as a new layer just below the tube layer.  Add a d/s of direction 348, distance 4, blur 8, opacity 30 with color #000000 and then again with the direction of 191.
::::Open elem44, r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer and move to the left side of the bricks.
::::Open elem27, r/s 60%. C/p as a new layer and move them down so they're "sitting" in the snow on the "floor".
::::Open elem119, r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer at the top of your layer palette and move it up till it's above the brick layer. Add a d/s of direction 315, distance 8, blur 15, opacity 30.
::::Open elem37, r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer at the top of your palette and move it down till it sticks out from your bottom circle.  Move it down in your layers palette now to below the circle.  Duplicate and slide this one up to the top left circle.
::::Open elem5 and r/s 60%.  C/p as a new layer just below your tube layer.
::::Open elem16 and r/s 40%. C/p as a new layer and move it to the left so it's "hanging" from the branch.
::::Open elem38 and r/s 50%. C/p as a new layer at the top of your palette, moving it the right side so some part of it is on the pink rectangle.  Duplicate, mirror and flip and be sure a part of it is on the green rectangle.

9. Highlight your tube layer and duplicate. On the duplicate layer, under Adjust, change the brightness level as follows...

On this layer add a Gaussian Blur of 14, change the blend mode to luminance and drop the opacity to 69.  This gives the tube a pop out look more than a d/s could.  Move back to the original tube layer and duplicate.  To this layer add a Gaussian Blur of 3 and change the blend mode to soft light.

10. Open paper2 and r/s to the size of your tag right now. Highlight your white background layer and c/p paper 2 as a new layer.  Find your 540Insatiable Dreams mask and apply, merge group.  Now r/s your tag (all layers checked) to your preferred size (use smart size).

11. If you're not going to animate, delete your background layer, add your name and your artist's © info and save as a png file.
::::::TO ANIMATE::::::

12. Add your artist's © info and your name, merge all.  Open A/S and find the included snow file.  Select all on the snow file, and go to Animations and resize the snow to the size of your tag.

13. Back in psp, copy your tag, in A/S paste as a new animation.  Duplicate the frames till you have 5 - the same as the snow.  On the snow, select all and copy.  Move to the tag, select all and paste into selected frame.  Save your tag as a gif file.

I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial and your FUN new tag!!
