Welcome

...to my Treehouse, where I do a bit of sharing goodies with my readers, and a lot of showing off of my CT tags. It's my little nest in the busy world of psp.

Squirrely has been my nickname since I was a child, both because it rhymes with my real name, and because I'm forgetful and just plain nuts at times. I've been tagging for 2+ decades off and on, and now that I'm retired/disabled I'm pretty much on most of the time now.

I love to share what I make with you, and I LOVE it when you respond with love back for the shares. So have a look around, take what you like and enjoy yourself. Just watch for splinters.

Oh! Stefan

Tube - I've used a sexy new tube from a series by The Hunter, based on the TV series The Vampire Diaries.  This is Stefan, and you can purchase him at S&Co HERE.  There are 4 other gorgeous tubes in Hunter's VD series.
Scrap Kit - I've used the perfect Vampire kit inspired by these tubes by Bibi appropriately named "Vampire Diaries", which you can also find at S&Co HERE.
Mask -    WSL_Mask223 from the WeeScottishLass HERE. Please put it in your Masks folder
Filters - Eye Candy 3.1 Drop Shadow
-------------------------------------------------
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = drop shadow
f/f = flood fill
-------------------------------------------------
Unless otherwise directed, add an EyeCandy drop shadow of direction 226, distance 10, blur 13, opacity 34 with color #000000.  DO NOT add any d/s on this tag until you place your main tube in step 4.

1. Open a new image 700 x 700 and f/f with white, we can crop and r/s later.  Add a new layer, s/sa/fl/defl and c/p PP 20 into selection. Lower the opacity to 75.

2. Open elem 37 and r/s 65%.  C/p as a new layer moving slightly up and to the left. Open elem 67 and r/s 35%, c/p as a new layer moving to the right of the house and a little above them. Open elem 21 & r/s 50%, c/p as a new layer and move it below the house in your layer palette and behind them on your tag.  Duplicate, mirror and move this line of trees a bit to the left and down.  Erase any part of the trees that hang below the house.  Open elem 14 and r/s 55%, mirror. C/p as a new layer above the house in your palette, change the blend mode to luminance legacy.

3. Open elem 75 and r/s 75%.  C/p as a new layer just above your mask layer. Change the blend mode to overlay. Do the same to both tree line layers and the houses. Grab your freeform selection tool and on the walkway layer, trace around the pieces of brick that are visible through the house now that you've changed the blend mode, tap delete, select none.

Merge all of your layers together now, including the white background.  Add a new layer and f/f it with white, drop it below your merged layer. Back on your merged layer, locate and apply the WSL_Mask223 mask and before you merge it, r/s it 106%.  Merge group.

4. Open elem 72 and r/s 60%.  C/p it positioning it at the bottom edge of your mask layer, duplicate and merge down.  Open your tube now and r/s as needed.  C/p it as a new layer positioning him so he's standing on this sand towards the right side.  Duplicate your tube and add a Gaussian Blur of 6, change the blend mode to overlay.  Add your d/s to the original tube layer.

5. Now we'll decorate the tag with all of these neat elements:
:::Open elem 146, c/p it above the mask layer and move the top of it so it starts just where the white bg layer starts.
:::Open elem 46 and r/s 70%. C/p as a new layer and mirror. Move it to the far left side overlapping the edge of the mask a bit.  Highlight the mask layer, s/sa/fl/defl and invert. Move to the ghost layer and tap delete, select none. Change the blend mode to hard light.
:::Open elem 39 and r/s 70% & mirror. C/p as a new layer moving it on top of the lightening.
:::Open elem 117 and r/s it 50%. C/p and move it to the left so it doesn't overlap the sand layer.
:::Open elem 7 and r/s 50%. C/p it to the front left side of the coffin, positioned so it appears buried in the sand.
:::Open elem 12 and r/s 25%. C/p as a new layer and r/s again 25%. Position it on the top left side of the coffin.
:::Open elem 57 and r/s 75%. C/p it below the coffin layer and moving it to the far left.
:::Open elem 54 and r/s 25%. C/p it moving it to the front of the coffin and down in the sand a bit.  Duplicate and r/s 90%, move to the right of the first candle.
:::Open elem 65 and r/s 50% twice. C/p moving it so it sits in the side on the far left side of the coffin.
:::Open elem 35 and r/s 50%. C/p it between the bible and the candles.
:::Open elem 66 and r/s 70%. C/p and move up to the sky area.
:::Open elem 10 and r/s 20%. C/p as a new layer above the sand layer and move it to the far left.
:::Open elem 145 and r/s 75%, mirror. C/p as a new layer just below your tube layer, moving to the left.  Duplicate and move this one to the right.

6. Crop and/or r/s as needed, add your artist's copyright information and your name.  I added a red glow to Hunters name and changed the blend mode of it to hard light.  And that's it, you're done!

I must confess, I've never even seen the Vampire Diaries, but I do know the fan base is a very loyal bunch, so if I've put wrong elements with Stefan, please forgive my ignorance.
That said, there is so many different and cool elements in Bibi's kit, I just had to use another goth winged tube I had of The Hunters, and make this tag to show some more to you. This tube is called "Gothic Angel"

Invincible - an animated, ptu tut

Tube - I've used Danny Lee's new tube "Invincible Woman" which can be found at S&Co HERE. Please don't use without a license.
Scrap Kit - I've used a cutie "Super Hero Girl", by Ginnibug Designz which you can also find at S&Co HERE.
Mask - My own SquirrelyMask19 which you can find HERE
Filters - Eye Candy 3.1 Drop Shadow & Glow
Animation - You can download the one I used HERE on Lovey's old blog.  It's called "Power Blue"

-------------------------------------------------
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = drop shadow
f/f = flood fill
AS = Animation Shop
-------------------------------------------------
Unless otherwise directed, add an black glow of 3 to every element, and an EyeCandy drop shadow of direction 310, distance 5, blur 10, opacity 34 with color #000000 throughout.

1. Open a new image 800 x 800 and f/f with white, we can crop and r/s later. Open shgp11 and c/p as a new layer. Apply the SquirrelyMask19 to this layer, merge group.  R/s this layer 95% (all layers unchecked) and duplicate, merge down. Open shg67 and c/p as a new layer.  Move this to the left and up a bit, don't add a glow to this element.  Open up shg61 and r/s 75%. C/p as a new layer and move this up & closer to the right side of the tag..

2. Open your close up tube and c/p as a new layer. If your tube is facing the right, move it to the right side of the city; if facing left, move it to the left side.  Duplicate it and mirror, and change the blend mode of both to screen.  Now reposition them on the city so they're clear to see on each side.  On the city layer, s/sa/fl/defl, invert, move to each close up face layer and tap delete, select none. Merge the faces with the city.

3. Open shg80 and r/s 50%, c/p as a new layer moving it down and to the right.  Open shg49 and r/s 50%, c/p moving them to the right until they're on the crates. Change the blend mode to luminance legacy and don't add a glow or d/s. Open shg51 and r/s 25%, c/p as a new layer moving onto the bottom of the crates.  I wanted this to look more like a blood spatter, so I changed the hue and saturation to 255 and didn't add a glow here either. Finally, open shg14 and r/s 65%. C/p this so it's on the crates.

4. Highlight the merged city layer. Open shg6 and r/s 65%, c/p as a new layer moving it to the left side of the city. Using your pick tool and while holding down the CTRL key, grab the upper left sided node & pull it up to add the perspective look to this element.  When done, open shg78 and r/s it 50%. C/p as a new layer moving it down so it's between the phone booth and the crates.

5. Open shg8 and c/p as a new layer. Position it so that the right upper netting is "hooked onto" the top of the city.  Open shg4 and c/p as a new layer moving it to cover this area. Open shg59 and r/s 40%, c/p and use this to cover the left upper side of the net. For the glow on this element, use color #ecd000. Using white, type in "WoW" and add a d/s of 5, 5, 75 to it.

6. Open shg55 and r/s 50%, c/p it under the crate layer and place it between the crates and the phone booth, no glow.  Open shg71 and c/p it and move it to behind the crates.  Right click on these lyrics and save to your computer if you'd like to add them:

C/p the lyrics at the top of your layer palette, change the blend mode to luminance legacy and lower the opacity to 69.

7. Open your main tube and r/s as needed.  C/p it as a new layer and leave it in the center of your tag, add the glow and d/s. Crop and/or r/s as needed, add your artist's copyright information and your name, and now you're ready to animate your tag.

To animate:

8. Open Animation Shop, and open the "power blue" animation.  Lovey's watermark is on frame 16 so delete that, and also delete frame 1 because that has nothing on it to guide you for placement and will confuse matters.  You now have 14 frames.

9. Back in PSP, hide your main tube, name and artist's copyright layers.  Highlight a layer that's not hidden and copy merged.  Go to Animation Shop and paste as a new animation. Tapping CTRL and L, duplicate the frames until you have 14.  We'll call this our background tag.

10. Back in PSP again, go to Layers - View - Invert, copy merged again and move to AS and paste as a new animation.  Repeat step 9 to have 14 frames.

11. Staying in AS now, on Lovey's animation select all and copy.  Move to your background tag, select all and paste into selected frames.  Look for the blue of the animation and put that right in the center of the tag, play the animation to be sure it's placed right.  If not, arrow undo and repeat it until you've got it centered.  Once it is, move to your tube/name animation and select all and copy.  Back to your background tag and paste into selected frame, placing your tube in the center.

12. Play your animation to be sure it's as you want it, save as a gif. file and enjoy your new fun tag!!

"Heart of the City" - a ptu tut

Tube - I've used an oldie but goodie by The Hunter called "My Angel".
Scrap Kit - "Heartbreaker" by Designs by Joan which is on sale right now and a great gothic kit.
Mask - another great mask by Vix_Val2012Mask2 which you can d/l HERE
Filters - Eye Candy 3.1 Drop Shadow
Template - Twysted T's Temp 52 which you can d/l HERE.
Supply zip - included Photoeffex filter (extract to your plugins location) HERE.

-------------------------------------------------
Tutorial abbreviations:
s/sa/fl/defl/ = Selections/Select All/Float/Defloat
c/p = copy & paste
d/s = drop shadow
f/f = flood fill
-------------------------------------------------
Unless otherwise directed, add an EyeCandy drop shadow of direction 310, distance 5, blur 10, opacity 50 with color #000000.

1. Open template 52, duplicate and close the original, change the canvas size to 800 x 650, we'll crop and/or r/s later.  Select all and add a new layer; open PP9 and paste into selection; select none.  Apply Vix mask to the layer and merge group.

2. Highlight raster 7 and s/sa/fl/defl.  Open PP-8, r/s 90% and c/p as a new layer, invert and tap delete, select none.  Repeat these steps on Raster 2 with PP-3.

3. Highlight raster 13 - s/sa/fl/defl and f/f with color #6a2826 or a color from your tube.  Duplicate, mirror and flip to cover raster 13 copy. Delete all original layers as you go along.

4. Highlight raster 3, s/sa/fl/defl add a new raster layer. Open elem82 and paste into selection.  Duplicate and move down to cover raster 3 copy.

5. Highlight raster 5, s/sa/fl/defl.  Open PP2 and r/s 85%, c/p as a new layer, invert and tap delete, select none. Repeat these steps using the same paper on the raster 4 layer, keep selected.  Grab your tube closeup and c/p on the layer moving it until you're happy with the placement.  Invert and tap delete, select none.  Change the blend mode to burn, or one suitable for your tube.

6. Highlight raster 6 and apply the Photo Effex Scanlines with these settings:

7. Highlight raster 8. Open elem 58 and r/s 75%, c/p as a new layer, change the blend mode to screen. You'll want to get rid of the bottom corners of the city that hang over the template, so grab your eraser tool work carefully to erase it.

8. Open your main tube and r/s as needed. C/p as a new layer at the top of your layer palette. Duplicate and add a Gaussian Blur of 6 to this layer, change the blend mode to overlay.  On your original tube add a d/s of 10, 10, 30.

9. Now we'll decorate with a few elements:
:::Open elem-4 and c/p as a new layer above the left large circle layer. Duplicate and pull this layer down over the bottom right large circle layer.
:::Open elem-22, r/s 50%. C/p and move down to the bottom of your template.
:::Open elem-112, r/s 25%. C/p above raster 9 in your palette and move it up to cover that layer.
:::Open elem-72, r/s 40%. C/p and move down and to the left as if it's hanging from raster 8.
:::Open elem-73, r/s 50%. C/p and move it in front of your tube like it's hanging from the long rectangle.
:::Open elem-118, r/s 50% and duplicate 2x, merge visible and flip. C/p below your tube layer and move to the bottom left of the center rectangle. No d/s on this layer.
:::Open elem-117, r/s 50%. C/p above the tube layers and move in front of the tube.
:::Open elem-29, r/s 75%. C/p as a new layer above raster 11 and move down so it hangs just above the bottom of the template. Erase a bit of the right side to it appears to be hanging from the frame of the large circle layer.

10. Crop and/or r/s as desired, add your artist's copyright information and your name, and you're done!

Weirdos - it's 21.
And here I am at Random.org right after I clicked the randomizer

Congratulations go out to Reina T as the winner of a GC for a tube of her choice.

1. Open up Tonya's template, shift D to duplicate and close the original.  Delete the credits and word art layer. Open Paper06 and r/s to 700 x 700, c/p as a new layer above the white background layer.  Locate the DD_BA_Mask and apply, merge group, duplicate and merge down.

Highlight the 'Heart BG' layer now, and change this layer to white as well.  Add a Gaussian Noise to it of monotone 50.

3. Highlight the "Heart with Render" layer. In the foreground of your Materials palette, put the color #bf5f5c.  Now grab your Target Brush with these settings:

Paint this layer in the template with your target brush twice to be sure you've covered it all. Once you're done, move the Sparkle layer up over it in your palette.

4. Highlight the "Doodle thingymabob" layer lol,  s/sa/fl/def and invert. Open Paper 13 and r/s 75%, then c/p it as a new layer and tap delete, select none.

5. Now we're ready to decorate this cutie:
:::Open Elem11 and c/p as a new layer. Move the pup around till the middle of his head is even with the middle of the heart (reference my tag)
:::Open Elem26 and c/p as a new layer just above the doodle layer.  Bring it up so it's just under the pup, add a d/s of 2, 5, and 30
:::Open Elem 59 and r/s 85%. C/p just above the flower layer and rest it on top of the flowers.
:::Open Elem18 and r/s 90%. C/p it as a new layer below the pup layer.
:::Open Elem17 and r/s 50%, mirror.  C/p as a new layer and move it to the left of the pup.
:::Open Elem22, mirror and flip and r/s 50%. C/p it and move it so it's just in front of the triple heart element.  Duplicate, bring this layer above the pup in your layers palette and mirror.  Use your eraser to remove the stem from this side.  Grab your freeform selections tool and carefully trace around the pup's pay on the right, promote it to a layer and bring it up above the pine cone.
:::Open Elem21 and r/s 40%. C/p as a new layer and move it so it peeks out from behind the pup on the left side.
:::Open Elem39, repeat the step above but place it on the right side.
:::Open Elem31 and r/s 35%. C/p as a new layer and tuck it in behind the pinecone on your tag.
:::Open Elem29 and r/s 35%. C/p it on the right side tucking behind that pinecone.
:::Open Elem48 and c/p just below the pup layer, moving it till it suits you.

6. Crop and/or r/s as needed, add your artist's copyright information if you used a tube (or my copyright if you're using just the kit) and your name, and you're done!
